Many people believe that creating a website is very difficult, they assume that they need to understand some coding language to build websites. The fact is you don’t even required to write a single line of code to create a WordPress Blog/website.
WordPress is one of the best Open source CMS (Content Management System) platform, if you’re a newbie I recommend you to start with WordPress because it’s free and quite easy to use.
Let’s Start on How to Install WordPress on Hostgator . . .
How to Install WordPress on Hostgator Web Hosting
Basically there are three ways to install WordPress on Hostgator Web Hosting; QuickInstall, Fantastico DeLuxe and Manually. In the following tutorial, i’ll cover the QuickInstall method because it’s easy and barely takes 5 minutes to Install WordPress.
Once you buy a web hosting from Hostgator, you’ll receive an email with cPanel Login credentials and instructions.
Step 1: Login to your cPanel. Basically the login URL link will be like; http://example.com/cpanel. you can find it on the email that Hostgator sent.
Step 2: Once you’re logged in, scroll down and you’ll see the Software/Services section. Click on the QuickInstall icon. You can see in my below image.
Step 3: A new page will open, on the left, under blog software, Click on WordPress.
Step 4: It’ll show the details of WordPress and its version. Click on Continue
Step 5: Now you need to fill out the Application URL, this is the path where you want to install WordPress.
If you want to use blog in this field, WordPress will be installed to your sub directory like; http://example.com/blog. Leave this field blank if you want to install WordPress in your Root directory.
Below I’m showing my personal domain as an example.
Fill out the necessary fields; your Admin Email, Blog Title, First Name and Last Name. You can change this later.
Now Click Install Now! Your WordPress will be installed within a minute. That’s it, your WordPress Installation is complete.
After your WordPress installation is finished, you’ll receive an email like the one below.
Now you can login to your WordPress using the login credentials that you received in email. The login URL will be like; http://example.com/wp-admin.
Your WordPress Dashboard will look like this.
Note: Your WordPress site might not be accessible if you’ve just changed your Name servers or DNS records, it might take some hours to propagate.
Your WordPress Blog is ready. Now you can Install WordPress themes and Plugins.
